A few mornings ago, while I was just waking up, I saw some of my friends post up on their social networks on what seems to be an advertising for In & Out coming to Hong Kong, I was thinking to myself (yes, my prayers have been answered) but upon wiping the bugers from my eyes, i see that actually its just a promotional event for In & Out in Hong Kong, yes seriously, one day only, for 5 hours they will be serving food.
For those who have lived in California, you all know that In & Out Hamburgers has a cult like following, people priding themselves in ordering items that are outside of the regular menu, animal style, 3 x 3, 4 x 4, Protein burger, and other secret code names, on their not so secret menu.
so this morning, like every other hungry person rolling out of bed on a sunday, the first thing on my mind was Double Double, and IN & OUT…..
but before I was able to get in-side, I had to by pass the rest of the 600+ people waiting outside, at the peak hour, I heard the line was up to 1000+
it was a long line, but people was excited, a few people even brought their own speaker systems, blasting 2pac and California Love, kind of funny.
Meanwhile, inside, the menu was standard but thats exactly what we had hoped for, the only thing that wasn’t available was the milkshakes and the french fries, but nothing could stop us now.
and your name is she asked politely … “KEVVVVIIINNNN” give it to me!
after ordering, was blowing water with Brian he has been working at IN&OUT for over 16+ years and it is a family run business, asked him what the story is with this whole promotional thing, he just looked at me smiled, and said that IN & OUT was doing market research, upon asking when they are planning to open, he just shrugged his shoulders and smiled to the camera.
2 x Double Double, yes it tasted exactly like what i last remembered from LA and yes it is the original shit.
so 300 burgers were sold at the end, to a line of 1000+ we were really lucky and fortunate to be one of the first 10 people to sample the goodness, and it was like a high school reunion…. Lance, on the other hand, wasn’t too happy with the arrangement.
Mr. Moran (OHWOW GALLERY) on the other hand, couldn’t even understand what the whole commotion was about, he was leaving to go home in a few hours.
at the end, we were still hungry and just went for dim-sum instead, but it was an interesting morning, my stomache felt good, got a parking ticket and there really wasn’t any secret, rumor had it that we used celebrities to get ahead and this and that, and it wasn’t the truth, what the real truth was because we have friends everywhere, special thanks to you know who you guys are….
some say it was because in & out needed to do some promotion here to keep their trademark, while others say its because they wanted to do market research, whatever the reason is, today should be enough proof that IN & OUT should open ASAP in Hong Kong…!
